Rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI DEC. 01. Rainfall occurred at a few places over Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Kerala and dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The following stations recorded rainfall in cms: Kangeyam (Erode dt.) 3, Kumbakonam and Papanasam (both Thanjavur dt.), Nanguneri (Tirunelveli dt.), Coonoor, Chatrapatti (Dindigul dt.) and Idukki 2 each and Valangaiman (Thanjavur dt.), Needamangalam (Thiruvarur dt.), Mayiladuthurai and Sirkali (both Nagapattinam dt.), Keeranur (Pudukottai dt.), Senkottai (Tirunelveli dt.), Paramathi Velur (Namakkal dt.), Coimbatore Airport, Sulur and Tiruppur (both Coimbatore dt.), Erode, Kodumudi (Erode dt.), Kundabridge (Nilgiris dt.), Kodaikanal, Aryankavu (Kollam dt.), Munnar (Idukki dt.) and Konni (Pathanamthitta dt.) 1 each.

The minimum temperature fell appreciably at a few places over coastal Karnataka, fell at one or two places over north interior Tamil Nadu, rose at one or two places over rest north interior Tamil Nadu and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably above normal at one or two places over north interior Karnataka, Telangana, north interior Tamil Nadu, above normal at one or two places over north Kerala, Rayalaseema, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, rest Tamil Nadu and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

Arogyavaram recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 15 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at few places over Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and south Kerala. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Andhra Pradesh, north Kerala and Karnataka.
