Letters to the Editor
Sir, India and Pakistan agreeing to resume air links and overflights from January 1 is certainly a step forward. Now, India should take some bold and pragmatic steps in solving the Kashmir issue without harping on cross-border terrorism. The Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, can use the coming SAARC summit in Islamabad to strengthen relations at the top level. R. Muralikumar, Chennai * * * Sir, The decision to resume air links shows the desire of policy-makers in both the nations to ease the prevailing tensions and make giant strides towards peace. S. Jeelan, Anantapur, A.P. * * * Sir, India should explore the land-for-peace method and resolve the Kashmir issue once and for all. The LoC can be converted into a permanent border. We should not mind losing a piece of land if it can bring permanent peace. Ratish Nair, Thiruvananthapuram * * * Sir, Though the guns have fallen silent along the border, India has to be cautious all the time. Udita Agrawal, New Delhi
