The Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, chaired the meeting. Announcing the decisions of the Cabinet, the Chief Secretary, Sudhir S. Bloeria, said that under this proposal, the Delhi Public School Society (DPSS) would set up one school in each district of the State. Twenty per cent of the seats would be reserved for the meritorious children of the under-privileged sections of society. No tuition fee shall be charged from them. The expenses on books and uniforms would be borne by the State Government. In lieu of the 20 per cent free seats, the Government shall provide 10 acres of land for each of the school. The DPSS will set up a Montessori school for training of teachers. The society will also adopt the Government High School, Sonawar, and the Government Girls High School, Gandhinagar, Jammu. No fee shall be charged from the students by the society.
