The list for Andhra Pradesh would now include Patras, Qureshs and Gajula Kapu of Srikakulam, Viziangaram and Vishakapatnam districts. In addition, Turupukapus of Vishakapatnam district would be covered. At present, Turupukapu of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts only are covered.
In Uttar Pradesh, the list has been expanded to cover Baghban and Pat-har and in Bihar, the list would now include Sadgope and Saikalgar communities also. In Punjab, people belonging to Ghumiar and Prajapati/ Parjapatra communities would also be eligible for OBC reservation, while the list for Sikkim would also cover Tha-mi.
Cabinet nod for modified scheme
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs also met here today and approved inclusion of several additional activities under the Market Access Initiative Scheme launched in September 2001 to give a boost to Indian exports. The new activities that would be eligible for assistance under the scheme include registration and testing of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agro-chemicals and engineering products abroad, programmes for marketing of cottage/handicrafts units and recognised industrial clusters abroad, studies on WTO related matters and reverse visits by buyers and journalists from the focus countries to trade fairs and exhibitions organised here. CCEA also approved an allocation of Rs. 552 crores for the modified scheme for the Tenth Plan period.
The Cabinet also gave the nod for the setting up of a national clean development mechanism authority in keeping with the provisions under the Kyoto Protocol on climate change. Headed by the Secretary, Environment and Forests, the Authority would evaluate and approve the projects proposed under CDM.
In addition, the Cabinet cleared the establishment of a transmission system at a cost of Rs. 1,673 crores for evacuation of power from the 1,980 MW super thermal power station coming up at Sipat in Bilaspur district of Chattisgarh.
