"The Congress party tried to divert people's attention away from development, but we remained fixed on the important issue of governance,'' the party spokesperson, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, said today. "The elections will decide the future direction of elections,'' he added, hinting that in the Lok Sabha polls next year the BJP would stick to these issues. As for Hindutva, the party has argued that it was an important issue related to "cultural nationalism'' but "the BJP has always maintained that it has never been an election issue.'' The party continued to state that irrespective of the poll results from which it had "high hopes,'' the Lok Sabha polls would be held on schedule, that is, around September next year. As of now there was nothing to suggest that the party would like to advance the Lok Sabha polls, he added.
