KIP sources said that dam safety experts would also be there in the inspection team. The team is also expected to submit a report on the same to the Water Resources Department. The immediate aim of the inspection will be to study the real cause and find a temporary solution to plug the leak. A permanent solution would be practical only when the water level subsides. The team would also go into the aspect of why in spite of the grouting done some years ago at the dam, the walls have started leaking again. The earlier grouting procedure was done when it was noticed that the dam walls were leaking alarmingly. After grouting, the leakage subsided and only normal seepage was noticed. However, the present phenomenon will need another bout of grouting, sources said. The portion of the wall through which the present leakage has occurred had reportedly been defective since its construction, sources said. For that matter the whole construction of the KIP had been engulfed in controversies and charges of corruption as a result of which the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau had launched an inquiry.
