The dieticians must gearing themselves to meet the challenges as there is rapid increase in the number of cardiac and diabetic patients. In order to prepare them for the task, the IDA is using its 36th national convention as a tool to promote exchange and generation of new ideas. The convention will be held in the Women's Christian College here, one of the first colleges in the country to set up a Department of Nutrition in 1942 and pioneer of dietetics in India, according to Dr. Shivaji. The two-day event, on December 5 and 6, will bring together 600 delegates from around the country to discuss a variety of issues ranging from organic food to their role in the present socio-cultural context.
