Congress wins 20 Council seats

Bangalore Dec. 3. It was the day of the Congress, with the ruling party winning 20 out of the 23 seats in the Legislative Council it had contested, and despite the defeat of a Minister, T. John. The elections to the 25 vacancies in the Upper House filled from the local authorities constituencies were held on Monday.

There was jubilation in the Congress camp, despite the defeats of the KPCC Vice-President, H. Hanumanthappa, and Mr. John. The Congress has increased its representation in the Upper House by seven.
