The police had seized a computer modem, an arms licence, some documents and a photo album. Besides Ms. Jayalalithaa, the accused are Sasikalaa, V.N. Sudhagaran and Ilavarasi. Mr. Natarajan moved the court earlier seeking return of the articles. The court passed orders on various dates in September and December 2001 that the seized articles be given back to him. They should be produced whenever required. Mr. Natarajan today came to the court of special judge-I, R. Rajamanickam, and the articles were handed over to him.
Theni Panneerselvam wealth case
Meanwhile, the judge today adjourned to December 10 the "disproportionate wealth case" against a former AIADMK MLA, Theni V. Panneerselvam, for serving copies of the charge sheet. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption had on November 4 filed the charge sheet against Mr. Panneerselvam, who represented Bodinaickanur during 1991-96. According to the charge sheet, the former legislator possessed wealth to the tune of Rs. 21.36 lakhs, which included land and movable assets, in his name and in the names of his two wives, Janakiammal and Dhanabaghyam, who were also cited as the accused. When the case was taken up today, Mr. Panneerselvam and Ms. Dhanabaghyam were present. Ms. Janakiammal did not turn up. The judge adjourned the case for the appearance of all the accused for furnishing them with charge sheet copies.
