Convention centre planned

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Dec. 3. Bangalore will soon have a world-class convention centre, and a suitable location close to the KGA golf course, off Airport Road, has been selected, the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, has said. Inaugurating the new building of the Krishi Sarvodaya Foundation in the same area on Wednesday, he said the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) had agreed to give the land needed. He indicated that the Government would build the infrastructure. He said Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Math had come forward to fund a hostel for students coming to the city to prepare for competitive examinations. The building inaugurated on Wednesday has facilities for students from other districts to stay and attend coaching for competitive examinations. The BMP gave the land and the building constructed by the foundation with donations from leaders of the Vokkaliga community. Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami, in his benediction, asked more community leaders to help in raising educational levels, especially in rural areas.
