Sir, It has not come as a surprise that nearly two million land line telephone subscribers of the public sector telecom service providers, BSNL and MNTL, have surrendered their connections this year (Dec. 4). With the entry of private players in the field and the mushrooming cell phone companies offering a variety of services at affordable costs, this was bound to happen. V. Padmanabhan, Bangalore
