Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
At a function organised by the Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial Trust, Nalli Kuppuswamy, industrialist, released the book and Sudha Raghunathan, carnatic musician, received the first copy. Mr. Kuppuswamy said the writer's editorials were as thought-provoking as his novels. They should be translated into English. This would familiarise the English-speaking community with the author, who bridged the gap between classic and contemporary literature in his works such as Ponniyin Selvan. The book, Amarar Kalki Padalgal, had 35 songs written on various occasions and popularised by carnatic musicians, M.S. Subbulakshmi, M. L.Vasanthakumari and D.K. Pattammal, in films and albums. On the latest publication brought out by Vaanathi Padippagam, Tamil writer, `Thiruppur' Krishnan, said it had some rare songs from Kalki's novels such as Sivagamiyin Sabhatham, Solaimalai Ilavarasi and other works. The anthology captured Kalki's nobility and humour. Anandhi Ramachandran recalled her father's lucid and simple style of writing, which won appreciation of the people. Seetha Ravi, Editor of Kalki magazine, also participated.
