Revolving funds for DWCRA groups urged

By Our Special Correspondent

Hyderabad Dec. 6. The Leader of the Opposition in the dissolved Assembly, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the Chief Minister to sanction revolving funds to all DWCRA groups in the State and reduce interest rates on the loans taken by members of the groups.

Referring to the announcement of supply of 30,000 cellular phones to the DWCRA members, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Saturday said DWCRA members would prefer insurance facility, salaries to animators and restoration of the groups scrapped due to drought. He said while the members were being paid only 3 per cent interest on their savings, they were forced to pay 15 per cent interest on loans. The Comptroller and Auditor-General report had stated that revolving fund had been sanctioned to only 28,952 groups out of the 4,27,678 as against the claim that all of them were being given revolving funds.

Citing Anajpur village of Bhongir mandal in Nalgonda district, he said none of the 28 groups here had been sanctioned the fund. Similarly, in Ranga Reddy district, only 55 out of 13,102 groups had benefited, he added.
