CHENNAI DEC. 6. Andhra defeated Karnataka 3-2 in the men's contest of the South Zone inter-university table tennis tournament, which commenced at the Anna University Campus here, on Saturday. E. Balagurusamy, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, inaugurated the tournament.

The results: Men: Mangalore bt Tiruvalluvar 3-0; Kerala bt SKU (Ananthapur) 3-0; Andhra University bt Karnataka University 3-2; JNT (Hyderabad) bt Calicut 3-1; Bharathiyar bt Kuvempu University 3-1; VTU bt University of Hyderabad 3-0; NTR bt Bangalore 3-1; RGUHS bt Nagarjuna (AP) 3-1; Bharathidasan bt Sri Venk. (Tirupati) 3-0; Madurai Kamaraj bt NIT (Warangal) 3-0.

Women: VTU (Belgaum) bt Mangalore 3-0; Andhra bt Gulbarga 3-0; Karnataka bt Gulbarga 3-0; Karnataka bt Bharathiyar 3-1; Mysore bt NTR (Vijayawada) 3-1; RGUHS (Karnataka) bt Madurai Kamaraj 3-0; Nagarjuna bt SVU (Tirupati) 3-0; University of Calicut bt Osmania 3-0; VTU bt Bharathidasan 3-0; Andhra University bt Tiruvalluvar (Vellore) 3-0.
