Paswan to sponsor adjournment motion against attack on press freedom

By Our Staff Correspondent

PATNA Dec. 6. The former Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party president, Ram Vilas Paswan, has decided to sponsor an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha against the attack on the freedom of the press in the light of the recent action by the Tamil Nadu Speaker and the Government against the Editor and senior journalists of The Hindu.

Mr. Paswan said that he would press for the admission of the adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha on Monday stressing that attempts to muzzle the press had to be stopped forthwith. He would also seek action against the Tamil Nadu Government for "harassing" The Hindu.

Referring to the recent Assembly elections, Mr. Paswan said that the anti-incumbency factor would affect the BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections and said that no party or coalition would be able to get a clear majority.
