CHENNAI DEC. 6. Members of two Muslim organisations staged a protest and took out a rally here on the occasion of the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary today.

Led by Anwar Basha, State secretary, members of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam took out a procession from the Munroe statue on Anna Salai and converged near the State Guest House at Chepauk. They raised slogans against the National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre.

Near Valluvar Kottam, supporters of the Tamil Maanila Muslim League, led by S. Sheikh Dawood, State president, took part in a protest. Talking to reporters, he said Babri Masjid should be rebuilt at the same spot at Ayodhya.

``It is a shame that the people who were responsible for the demolition of the mosque are now in power at the Centre.'' The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, who was discharged in the Babri Masjid demolition conspiracy case in September by a special CBI court, should be brought back to trial.

At a time when temples were struggling to conduct even regular poojas, why was the Sangh Parivar insisting on construction of a new temple, asked Mr. Dawood.

At Coimbatore and Nagercoil, where the police did not accord sanction for any protest, TMMK volunteers courted arrest.
