Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
The Church would not make any compromise on its Indian identity. It is also committed to maintaining and fostering national unity and cultural harmony. The Christian faith will never hinder Christians in bearing allegiance to the nation, the Archbishop said in his presidential address at the seventh general body meeting of the Catholic Council of India, here, today. `Christianity in India is as old as Christianity itself. It has sprouted with our forefathers assuming the religious and cultural heritage of their fore-fathers. This is a point that has to be stressed, more so in view of allegation levelled against the church by some extremists and fanatical religious groups,' he said. The three-day meet, which has as its core theme `Church and Social Communications', was earlier inaugurated by the Revenue Minister, K. M. Mani.
