N. Ramamohan Sastry, a former Co-operative Sub-Registrar of Musheerabad mandal in Hyderabad, following his conviction in a corruption case. His entire death-cum-retirement Gratuity was also withheld by the Government, a press release said. N. Ramamohan Sastry was caught by the ACB officials on April 23, 1996, on charges of accepting Rs. 20,000 for showing official favour while inspecting the accounts of Vazir Employees Consumer's Co-operative Society Limited, Azamabad. The Special Judge for ACB Cases, Hyderabad, sentenced him to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 500 as he was found guilty of charges.
Mandal Parishad officer trapped
The Machavaram Mandal Parishad Development Officer, P.Z. Gnan Paul, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday on charge of accepting Rs. 2,000 bribe from a complainant. He tested positive when subjected to a chemical test, according to a press release. The MPDO demanded bribe from a contractor for issuing a work order though the tender was confirmed in the latter's favour. He was being produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases, Vijayawada.
