Uma Bharti elected legislature party leader

Bhopal Dec. 7. Uma Bharti was today elected the leader of the Madhya Pradesh BJP legislature party.

The proposal was moved by senior BJP leader, Gauri Shankar Shejwar, and seconded by Himmat Kothari. Ms. Bharti's election was a mere formality as the party had already declared her the chief ministerial candidate.

Immediately after her election, Ms. Bharti went to Raj Bhavan with senior party leaders to submit a letter to the Governor, Ramprakash Gupta, staking claim to form the next government.
