According to police, a team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajbir Singh, laid a trap outside the front gate of Lotus Temple. The terrorists, who came in a car, stopped near a park. One of them stepped out and, when challenged by the police, opened fire. The police then returned the fire, killing him. The other terrorist tried to climb the fence but was intercepted and gunned down. The terrorists were identified as Javed Iqbal alias Hafid Rashid and Bilal, both Pakistani nationals. It was not yet clear if the car was a stolen one. The police were conducting a thorough vehicle check till late tonight. Senior police officials, including the Joint Commissioner of the Special Cell, Neeraj Kumar, rushed to the spot and the area was cordoned off. Earlier, the Special Cell arrested two men from Khanpur in South Delhi in a joint raid with Central intelligence agencies. The duo, identified as Tahir Hussain and Tazim Ahmed, residents of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir and belonging to the Pir Panjal group of the outfit, were living in a rented house in Khanpur for the past few days.
