Telgi scam: one more police officer arrested

MUMBAI DEC. 9. The Special Investigation Team, probing into the multi-crore Telgi fake stamps case, arrested one more police officer on Monday.

The officer, Inspector K.K. Parmar of the Mumbai police, was suspended some time ago on the charge of not initiating action against Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the case, when he was arrested in 1995. — UNI

Bail plea rejected

PTI reports from Pune:

The bail application of Rashid Kulkarni, counsel for Telgi, was rejected by the Special Court here today. The Special Judge, S.M. Shembole, rejected the bail on the ground that there was prima facie evidence against him.

A tiger skin, claws, teeth, a deer skin and "incriminating documents" were seized by the SIT from the premises of the suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mohammad Chand Mulani, SIT sources said today.
