Within a year of bringing all colleges under the purview of the university, it was both surprising and shocking that a move was on for granting autonomy to self-financing colleges, he said in a statement today. He sought to know how the move would help the students improve administration or educational standards in the unaided colleges. It would not be wrong to state some of the unaided colleges were only keen on coming out of the university control. He said unaided or private education was not a substitute for government-funded education, but could only assist the latter. The Chancellor should give his suggestions for improving education, the statement said.
