Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Special Correspondent
The Bangalore District Chemists and Druggists Association and its affiliated units have opposed the bandh and asked its members to keep their shops open on both days. The Bangalore unit had presented a memorandum to the State Drugs Controller asking for certain changes in the existing drug laws and redefining the "major and minor offences" under the law. "After discussions with the Drugs Controller, the association is convinced of the pragmatic view adopted by the Drugs Control Department and its officials. In view of the continuing dialogue on the subject, we are not joining the bandh and have decided to cooperate with the department,'' V. Hari Krishnan, president of the association, said.
