A stronger Russia

Sir, — Your editorial, `Resurgent Nationalism' ( Dec. 10 ), rightly asserts the fact that the results of the Russian parliamentary elections strengthen the hands of Vladimir Putin, who can perhaps cut the `sole superpower' to size. A situation wherein Russia acquires more strength may help restore balance in world affairs.
