Pfizer to close down Chandigarh unit

MUMBAI DEC. 10. Pharma major Pfizer is to close down its bulk drug plant at Chandigarh with effect from February 9, 2004, as its operations have become non-viable. The company has filed an application with the Maharashtra Government under Sec. 25-O of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, for the closure of the plant, Pfizer informed the Stock Exchange today. The plant, which manufactures Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride, Salinomycin-350 Mycelia and Chloropropomide, employees around 83 workmen.
