NHRC notice to Bihar police in Dubey case

NEW DELHI DEC. 10. The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Bihar police and the Chairman of the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) seeking an explanation into the alleged lapses in the Satyendra Dubey murder case.

The Commission took note of the media reports into the ``lapses'' by the police for not investigating the cases ``properly'' and the NHAI for not treating the complaints made by the IIT engineer about misappropriations in the prestigious Golden Quadrilateral Highway project, with which he was associated.

The Commission gave three weeks' time for the two to file their reports before it, sources said.

The Commission has asked the NHAI as to why the name of Dubey was not kept secret and what action had been taken on his complaint alleging widespread irregularities in the project in Bihar.

Taking note that the police had only filed a case of highway robbery and murder of Dubey, the NHRC asked the Bihar Director General of Police to file a report whether any negligence was committed while investigating the case.
