Diwan, new U.P. Chief Secretary

Lucknow Dec. 10. V. K. Diwan was today appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh succeeding controversial Akhand Pratap Singh, whose extension to the post was challenged in the Supreme Court for alleged corruption.

The orders in this regard were issued today, according to an official spokesman here.
