Doctors threaten to launch stir

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Dec. 10. The Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association (KGMOA) has threatened to launch a non-cooperation stir from January 1, 2004, to protest against the non-implementation of several longstanding demands.

The KGMOA, which took this decision at an emergency meeting of its State committee said, however, that the agitation would not disrupt hospital services or patient care.

The major demands of the KGMOA include pay revision, establishment of speciality and administrative cadre, filling up of 375 posts additionally created by the Government three months ago, issuance of guidelines for private practice by Government doctors and a uniform work schedule in hospitals.
