Social service body to celebrate fourth anniversary

HYDERABAD Dec. 10. The Laryngectomee Society, a social service organisation for rehabilitation of throat cancer patients, will celebrate its fourth anniversary at the Apollo Cancer Hospital here on December 13.

As part of the celebrations, the society will organise various sports and cultural activities for the laryngectomees (those who have undergone surgical removal of the larynx or voice box for throat cancer) and their families besides helping them learn ways to cope with the handicap. Former Indian cricket captain, Md. Azharuddin, will be chief guest.

A free throat cancer screening and consultation camp has been arranged between 9 am and 5 am at the hospital. Interested persons may register by contacting the hospital on 23607760.
