Historic flight to Shanghai

Shanghai Dec. 11. Air India's first-ever commercial flight to China arrived here in the metropolis today, opening a new chapter in bilateral ties and paving the way for enhanced people-to-people contacts.

A packed Airbus 310 aircraft with the flight number AI348 touched down at the Pudong international airport, creating aviation history for India's international flag carrier.

``It is a historic occasion for India-China relations as well as for Air India which is flying to China for the first time in its history,'' the Regional Director of Air India for the Far East, Southeast Asia and Australia, V.J. Kashyap said.
