The festival would commence with the screening of the Portuguese film, `Police woman' , the Japanese film, `Doll' and the French film, `Remake at the New theatre, and the screening of the South African film, `Promised land' and the French film, `August' at the Sree theatre from 9-30 a.m. According to the organisers of the festival, the prints of as many as 140 films have arrived in the city. The Chalachithra Academy is bringing out a booklet titled, `Festival Daily', to provide the delegates with updated information on the films to be screened . A detailed festival booklet containing synopses of the films to be screened at the festival has also been brought out. As many as 28 Malayalam films would be screened as part of the festival at the Tagore theatre and the Nisagandhi auditorium in connection with the 75th year of the Malayalam cinema. I. V. Sasi's `1921', P. A. Backer's `Kabanee nadi chuvannappol', John Abraham's `Amma ariyaan', K. S. Sethumadhavan's `Oppol' , Ramu Karyat's `Chemmeen', Sreekumaran Thampi's `Gaanam', P. N. Menon's `Olavum theeravum', P. Bhaskaran's `Neelakkuyil' and Priyadarsan's `Chithram' are among the films being showcased. The chairman of the jury, Humberto Solas, arrived in the city today. The other members of the jury would be Rituparna Ghosh (India), Moussa Sene Absa (Senegal), Helmut Groschup (Austria) and Garin Nugroho (Indonesia). As many as 45 foreign delegates are expected to take part in the festival.

Kalabhavan: `A Sigh' (Focus on China), 9-15 a.m., `Unknown Code', 11-30 a.m., `Couch in New York', 3-15 p.m.; New Theatre: `Police Woman', 9 a.m., `Doll-3' 11-15 a.m., `Remake', 3-30 p.m. ` 9/11' Based on a True Story, `Encounter', 9-15 p.m. Tagore Theatre: `1921', 12 noon, `Kabani Nadi Chuvannappol', 2-30 p.m. Nisagandhi: `9/11-Based on a True Story', `Encounter', 7 p.m.
