Sir, I refer to the article, "A progressive conservative," (Dec. 10) on Rajaji. To this day, none has challenged his sharp intelligence and wit, administrative acumen and cleanliness in public life. He was certainly a sage among politicians, a rare breed indeed.

Sir, Rajaji was among the first who advocated a ban on the use of atomic weapons. In this connection, his meeting with John F. Kennedy was memorable.
