Raman Singh takes in more tribals

Raipur Dec. 12. The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Raman Singh, today inducted 17 Ministers, nine of Cabinet rank and eight Ministers of State, giving maximum representation to the tribal community in his Ministry.

Attempting to draw a balance between all the three regions of the State, Mr. Singh inducted seven Ministers from Bilaspur, the home region of the former Chief Minister, Ajit Jogi, where the BJP won 18 seats out of 39 in the recent Assembly elections.

From his Raipur region, he inducted six Ministers.

The BJP captured 23 of the 39 seats in the region.

From the tribal-dominated Bastar region, three members, including Kedar Kashyap, son of Bastar MP, Baliram Kashyap -- whom Mr. Jogi had allegedly given Rs. 45 lakhs and a letter addressed to the Governor to form a break-away government to prevent the BJP from coming to power in the State -- have been made Ministers. — PTI
