Agnishwar sets record

CHENNAI DEC. 13. Among the several new meet records that were set in the National School Games swimming meet, currently in progress in Surat, was J. Agnishwar's 02:45.44 in the boys' under-14 200m breaststroke. The Tamil Nadu swimmer eclipsed Karnataka's J.P. Arjun's mark of 02:48.51 set in 2002.

Boys: Under-14: 200m IM: Aditya Sangavekar (Mah) 02:24.65 (NR). 100m freestyle: Vivek Shanbhag (Mah) 01:00.47 (NR). 200m breaststroke: J. Agnishwar (TN) 02:45.44 (NR). Under-17: 200m IM: J.P. Arjun (Kar) 02:21.57 (NR). 100m freestyle: Aniketh D'Souza (Kar) 00:55.64 (NR). 200m breaststroke: Darshan R. Maiya (Kar) 02:38.89 (NR) (Rohit Kumar of Delhi, who finished second with a timing of 02:39.13, also bettered the old mark of 02:39.41 held by Gaurik Bardhan of WB). Under-19: 200m IM: V. Abhishek (Kar) 02:21.51. 100m freestyle: Samir Das (WB) 00:57.60. 200m breaststroke: Indrajit Bhowmik (Guj) 02:34.05 (NR).

Girls: Under-14: 200m IM: Parita A. Parekh (Guj) 02:40.62. 100m freestyle: Lekha Kamat (Mah) 01:06.85. 200m breaststroke: Sumi Buragohain (Asm) 03:04.20. Under-17: 200m IM: V. Tejaswini (Kar) 02:39.30 (NR) (M.S. Niveditha of Karnataka, who finished second with 02:40.52, also bettered the old meet record of 02:41.71 held by Karnataka's D. Mrudula), 100m freestyle: C. Shuba (Kar) 01:03.40 (NR). 200m breaststroke: Prerna S. Jain (Kar) 02:56.23 (NR). Under-19: 200m IM: Ritu Sejwal (Dli) 02:53.49. 100m freestyle: Ambica N.S. Iyengar (Kar) 01:01.97 (NR). 200m breaststroke: Ambica N.S. Iyengar (Kar) 02:56.37 (NR).
