JCT beats Salgaocar

Ludhiana Dec. 14. JCT Phagwara survived a scare before romping home to a 1-0 victory over Salgaocar Sports Club in a National Football League match here today. The lone goal of the match came through veteran I.M. Vijayan who scored in the 17th minute.

The match could have taken a different course but for JCT custodian Mansur Ali. Showing superb presence of mind, Ali saved at least four certain goals for Salgaocar.

In the dying minutes Jatin S Bisht's kick from within the striking circle was also foiled by the alert goalie.

After completion of the fourth round in this league, JCT Phagwara has 7 points (2 wins, one loss and one draw) while Salgaocar Sports Club has 6 from two wins, one defeat and one draw.

The next match will be played here on December 20 between JCT Phagwara and Dempo Sports. — PTI
