By J. Venkatesan
In the light of this submission, a three-judge Bench, comprising Justice S. Rajendra Babu, Justice A.R. Lakshmanan and Justice G.P. Mathur, directed the CBI to file a status report of the investigation into the case within eight weeks. The order was passed on an application from Ms. Rasool seeking a CBI probe into the incident. On September 8, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the State Government and police on a petition from her for a CBI probe into the manner in which the police had closed the case on technical grounds despite medical reports confirming that her modesty had been outraged.
