Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad

Named after the former Chief Minister and Telugu film icon, the award is instituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The previous recipients are Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Dilip Kumar, the late Shivaji Ganesan, Lata Mangeshkar, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Bhanumathi Ramakrishna. Rajkumar, who has won honours such as the Dadasaheb Phalke award and Karnataka Ratna, has played a variety of roles in a career spanning 50 years and 200-plus films. Endowed with a mellifluous voice, he is also an acclaimed singer having won the national award for the best playback singer for a song in ``Jeevana Chaitra", according to an official press note.
