Former MLA convicted

VIJAYAWADA DEC. 18. The First Additional Sessions Judge for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Atrocities (Prevention) Act, T. Doraswami, has convicted the former TDP MLA from Nuzvid, Kotagiri Hanumantha Rao, and his follower, Koneru Prasad, for abusing a person by his caste, and sentenced them to undergo two years' rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs. 2,500 each. They were, however, granted bail the same day.

Mr. Hanumantha Rao said he would file an appeal in the High Court.
