Contempt plea against Rabri, Laloo
By Our Staff Correspondent
PATNA
DEC. 19.
Two lawyers today filed a public interest litigation petition against the Bihar Chief Minister, Rabri Devi, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief, Laloo Prasad Yadav, alleging that they had sought to interfere in the judicial process by talking to the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, Justice R.S. Dhawan.
The alleged telephonic talk the Chief Minister and the RJD chief had with the Chief Justice in the wake of the order for arrest of the Chief Secretary, K.A.H. Subramanian, in connection with a contempt case filed by a Judge of the Patna High Court, has become a matter of controversy.
The Chief Minister had maintained that she was well within her rights to talk to the Chief Justice.
Mr. Subramanian had written to the Cabinet Secretary and the Union Home Secretary, outlining the circumstances that led to his detention by police and his mental agony.
