Infant abducted

By Our Staff Reporter

ELURU DEC. 19. In filmy stile, a two-day-old male infant was reportedly whisked away by a stranger from its mother, Lakshmi, at Ramakrishnapuram here on Friday. According to the police, an unknown woman in a Punjabi dress got acquaintance with the infant's mother after delivery at the government hospital here. When she was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, the stranger followed her to home on the pretext that she would offer prayers for the kid. She left Lakshmi's house in the evening. But she returned after some time with a request to be allowed to sleep in their house for the night.

The mother was shocked to see that the boy was not on her side in the wee hours of Friday. The boy's father, K. Gumpaswamy, a rickshaw puller, lodged a complaint with the two-town police.
