Suicide bid at Allahabad HC foiled

Allahabad Dec. 19. A man attempting to commit suicide by jumping from the roof of the Allahabad High Court building, to highlight allged atrocities of liquor mafia against him was overpowered and arrested today, police said.

Ramesh Kumar Patel of Pratapgarh district climbed to the roof from the rear of the building and attempted to jump down but was overpowered by security personnel.

Mr. Patel, who was arrested and taken to the Cantonment police station for interrogation, said he wanted to take the extreme step in a bid to highlight alleged atrocities against him and his family members by liquor mafia. — PTI
