Soon after Noor's surgery in July, her father Nadeem Sajjad had helped set up the "Dosti Fund" for funding the treatment of Pakistani children at the hospital. Mr. Sajjad contributed Rs. 60,000 for the fund which was augmented by Rotarians. The Indian group which went to Lahore at the invitation of the Rotary there and Noor's parents included Lakshmi Mani, who is in charge of the charity wing of Narayana Hrudayalaya. "We went there as ambassadors of good will and treated as such with a lot of warmth. The thaw in the relationship between the two countries should improve further and make more such visits possible between the neighbours'' she said. Noor's birthday party was held at McDonald's in Lahore with many of her friends present to greet her. Along with posters wishing her well were those expressing thanks to Rajesh Sharma, the surgeon who operated on the child in Bangalore. The "Dosti" group were also given a public reception in Lahore. Among those who attended was the Revenue Minister for Punjab province, Arshad Ali Lodhi, who said that most heart patients in Pakistan now clamoured to be treated at Bangalore.
