Pondicherry Dec. 20. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, has called upon the police force to ensure that there was full protection to the people. Handing over mopeds to each of 71 beat constables and members of women police station here today, Mr. Rangasamy said the police were discharging their duties well, still there was a scope for improvement. He said vacant posts of policemen were being filled. The services of 39 home guards would be regularised soon and 440 home guards would be posted in course of time. Filling of posts of inspectors, posting of sub-inspectors either through direct recruitment or by promotion and posting of 99 constables would be among the measures contemplated to strengthen the Police department.
