Assembly poll trend will continue, says Advani

By Our Staff Reporter

Bangalore Dec. 20. The Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, today hoped that the people would give a mandate of another five years to the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to rule the country in the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 as he had provided good government during his tenure.

Addressing BJP workers here, Mr. Advani said the people would support the party for its good governance and development.

The Assembly elections in the country always used to be a trendsetter.

Similarly, the verdict in the northern States would set the trend for the next Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Advani said. ``It will continue and bring back Mr. Vajpayee to power.''

Earlier, the State unit party president, Ananth Kumar, in his welcome speech said that the BJP would win the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh with its alliance partners such as the Shiv Sena and the Telugu Desam Party. In Karnataka, it would come to power on its own, thanks to the ``State Government's failures.''

The senior BJP leaders, Jagdish Shettar and B.S.Yediyurappa, were present.

The former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, M. Ramakrishna, joined the BJP on the occasion.
