Tamil Nadu
By Our Staff Reporter
At the end of the function, he asked the Vice-Chancellor, R. Sethuraman, to arrange to bring the students, seated in back rows, to the front. The President asked the young students to repeat a Tirukkural, Enniyangu Eithuvar Enniyar Thinniyar Agaperin , which they did happily. Exhorting them to work hard to achieve success, the President asked them what their ambition was. Pat came the reply with one of them saying his goal was to become a Collector; another wanted to become a journalist and yet another a lecturer. Interestingly, one boy said he would like to work for the mentally challenged, which was appreciated by Mr. Kalam. Another student said he would make India a developed country in 2020 as dreamt by Mr. Kalam. There were a few girls who wanted to become politicians. While one girl said she would like to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and put an end to corruption, another wanted to become Prime Minister. A delighted Mr. Kalam asked them to explain the meaning of `dreams lead to thoughts and thoughts result in action.' And the students came out with their interpretations. Despite delay in his schedule, because of his interaction with children, Mr. Kalam left the venue happy and satisfied.
