'Desecration' of place of worship leads to tension

By Our Staff Correspondent

BIDAR DEC. 20. Tension prevailed at Hulsoor village when some villagers tried to organise a bandh after some pieces of green cloth and some stones were reportedly found on the premises of a place of worship on Saturday.

They demanded that action be taken against members of a certain community, who, they alleged, had intentionally kept the cloth and the stones at the place of worship.

The police organised a peace meeting between members of both the communities. They arrested Moinuddin in connection with the incident, and promised to conduct an inquiry into the matter. They said the situation was peaceful and under control.

Villagers told The Hindu that Moinuddin, a destitute, was mentally challenged.
