Denouncing political opposition to a Union Government move to enable people without English knowledge to write a defence services examination in Hindi, Mr. Ganesan, in a statement, said Members of Parliament belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as well some Congress MPs from Pondicherry opposed the move. Their contention was if any one was allowed to write in Hindi, others should be allowed to write in Tamil too. But the people failed to notice that the BJP president, Venkaiah Naidu, well-versed in Hindi, intervened and wanted the MPs' viewpoint respected. His argument helped in putting off a final decision on the move.
