Executive robbed of car

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI DEC. 20. Four unidentified men robbed a private firm executive of his car after abducting him in his own vehicle at Malviya Nagar in South Delhi on Thursday night. The robbers dumped the victim in Faridabad and fled with his car.

According to the police, Robin Sarkar (45), a senior executive with a multi-national firm manufacturing domestic appliances and a resident of C-Block in Vasant Kunj, had come along with his wife Reena (40), to J-Block Saket in Malviya Nagar for shopping. Reena was buying something from a shop while Robin was standing near his Maruti Alto car some distance away.

Around 9-30 p.m., four men surrounded Robin and forced him to sit in the rear seat of his car at knife-point. The police said only one of the abductors was in possession of a knife. One of them then took to the wheels and drove towards Faridabad.

Meanwhile, Reena raised an alarm when she came from the shop only to find that her husband and the car were missing. She informed the police following which messages were flashed.

However, the abductors managed to cross over to Faridabad and dumped Robin only after they had reached Sector-10. They also forced Robin to part with Rs. 900 he was carrying and escaped with the car. But the robbers could not lay their hands on his mobile phone which was probably kept in an inner pocket.

Robin then called up home and informed his family members that he was safe but his car had been robbed. He then took a lift from a motorcyclist and reached his home at Vasant Kunj late in the night.

The police said the robbers could have been novices. "It does not seem likely that the couple were being followed but we have got some clues," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Vivek Gogia.

Meanwhile, a case of abduction and robbery has been registered at Malviya Nagar police station and further investigations are on.
