Spurious liquor claims six lives in three days

BANGALORE Dec. 20. Six persons, including four women, in two villages in Hoskote police station limits in Bangalore Rural district, died in the past three days after consuming spurious liquor.

According to the police, the victims, who worked as labourers on a farm in Shankaripura, are said to have consumed the spurious liquor on Thursday. They were residents of Lakkundanahalli and Thimmasandra.

The bodies of five of the victims had been buried and the police are taking steps to exhume them.

The police said the incident came to light when Jayamma (45) of Lakkundanahalli died on Saturday and her relatives reported the matter to the police.

When the police took up investigation, it learnt that five others had died on Thursday, Friday, and today.
