Councillor, eight others convicted

Bangalore Dec. 20. T.K. Rajagopal, a BJP councillor of Byatarayanapura CMC, and eight others were sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 5,000 each by the Second Fast Track Court on Friday on charges of attempt to murder. One of the accused in the case is absconding.

The nine persons assaulted Krishnappa of Tindlu village, which comes under Bytarayanapura CMC, and his son, Vishwanath, and a friend, Nanjappa, according to the prosecution. The fine collected from the convicted persons would given to Nanjappa, who was badly injured in the attack, the court said.
